கணினிச் சொற்கள் (Computer Acronyms)

இன்றைய கணினி உலகில் புழங்கும் கணினி துறைச்சார் சொற்றொடர்களில் அதிகமானவை, சுருக்கச் சொற்களாகவே அறிமுகமாகின்றன அல்லது பிரபலமாகின்றன. அதனால் அச்சுருக்கச் சொற்களின் முழுச்சொற்றொடர் பலருக்கு தெரியாமலேயே போய்விடுகின்றன. இச்சுருக்கங்களின் முழுச் சொற்றொடர்களையும் அறிந்து வைத்துக்கொள்ளல், அவற்றின் பொருளை எளிதாக விளங்கிகொள்ள வழிவகுக்கும். அதேவேளை ஆங்கில சொல்வளத்தை பெருக்கிக்கொள்ள உதவுவதுடன், ஆங்கில சொல் ஆளுமையை வளர்த்துக்கொள்ளவும் உதவும்.

நாம் தினமும் பயன்படுத்தும் மின்னஞ்சல் சேவையில் "Cc" யை அழுத்தி ஒரே நேரத்தில் ஒரே மின்னஞ்சலை பலருக்கு அனுப்புவோம். அதேவேளை எல்லோருடைய மின்னஞ்சல் முகவரியும் எல்லோருக்கும் சென்றுவிடாது காக்கும் வகையில் "Bcc" யை அழுத்தி அனுப்புவோம். இதுப்போன்ற "Cc, Bcc" இன் சுருக்கங்களின் பயன்பாடு நம் எல்லோரும் அறிந்தவைகளாக இருந்தும், அச்சுருக்கங்களின் முழு சொற்றொடர்கள் நம்மில் பலருக்கு தெரியாமலேயே இருந்திருக்கலாம். எனவே அவற்றை இன்று அறிந்துக்கொள்வோம்.

ஆங்கில மொழியின் வளர்ச்சியும் அவசியமும்

இன்று ஆங்கிலம் ஒரு சர்வதேச மொழியாக வளர்ந்து உயர்ந்து நிற்கிறது. பரந்து விரிந்த உலகம் இன்று ஒடுங்கிச் சுருங்கி காண்பதற்கு ஆங்கில மொழியின் வளர்ச்சியும் அதன் பயன்பாட்டின் விரிவுமே காரணம். இன்று உலகில் எம்மொழியைத் தவிர்த்தாலும், ஆங்கில மொழியை தவிர்க்க முடியாதக் கட்டாயத்திற்குள்ளேயே நாம் அனைவரும் உள்ளோம். அறிவியல் வளர்ச்சிக்கும், தொழிநுட்பத் துறைகளுக்கும், உயர் கல்வி கற்கைகளுக்கும் ஆங்கிலம் அத்தியாவசியமானது என்பதில் யாரும் இரண்டு கருத்துக்களை கொண்டிருக்க முடியாது. ஆங்கிலத்திற்கு முன்னுரிமை கொடுக்காத ஜப்பான், சீனா, மற்றும் சில ஐரோப்பிய நாடுகள் கூட தற்போது ஆங்கில மொழி கல்வியில் கவனம் செலுத்தி வருகின்றனர். ஆங்கிலம் கற்பதானால் கிடைக்கும் பெறுபேறுகள், ஆங்கிலம் கற்காதவரை விட அதிகம் என்பதை எல்லோரும் அறிவோம்.

ஆங்கிலக் கற்கை நெறியில் தேர்வு ஏன் அவசியம்?

சாதாரணமாக ஆங்கிலம் கற்க விரும்பும் பலர்; ஆங்கில பேச்சுப் பயிற்சியை (Spoken English) அல்லது அதனை மேம்படுத்திக் கொள்ளும் வகையிலேயே ஆங்கில கல்வியைக் கற்க விளைகின்றனர். ஆங்கில பேச்சுப் பயிற்சி அவசியம் என்கின்றப் போதிலும், நாம் நமது துறை சார்ந்து எவ்வாறான ஆங்கிலக் கல்வியைத் தொடர வேண்டும் என்பதில் பலரிடம் சரியான தெரிவுகள் இல்லை. பொருளீட்டலை முதன்மையாகக் கொண்டு, கவர்ச்சிகரமான அறிமுகங்களின் ஊடாக, ஆங்கிலம் கற்பித்துத் தருவதாக 30 நாள் ஆங்கிலம், 60 நாள் ஆங்கிலம், என விளம்பரங்கள் நிறையவே காணப்படுகின்றன. இவ்வாறான கற்கை நெறிகள் முழுமையான பலனைத் தரப்போவதில்லை.

உலகில் எந்த ஒரு மொழியிலும் பார்க்க அதிகமான பத்து இலட்சம் சொற்களைக் கொண்ட ஒரு மொழியாக ஆங்கிலம் வளர்ந்து நிற்கிறது. அதிலும் ஒரே சொல்லுக்கு பல வரைவிலக்கணங்களைக் கொண்ட சொற்கள் ஏராளம் உள்ளன. அதில் 464 வரைவிலக்கணங்களைக் கொண்ட ஒரு சொல்லும் உள்ளது. அத்துடன் ஆங்கிலம் ஒரு ஒலிப்பொழுக்கம் அற்ற மொழி. இவை இப்படி இருக்க; எவர் எப்படி 30, 60 நாட்களில் ஆங்கிலம் கற்றுத்தர முடியும்? ஆங்கில மொழியை தாய் மொழியாகக் கொண்டோர் என்றாலும் உயர் கல்விவரை ஆங்கிலம் அவர்களுக்கும் ஒரு பாடமாகவே இருக்கிறது என்பதை நாம் மறந்துவிடக்கூடாது. எனவே ஆங்கில மொழியில் ஆளுமை மிக்கவராகத் திகழ வேண்டும் என விரும்பும் ஒருவர் தொடர் முயற்சியுடன் கற்றல் மிக அவசியம். அத்துடன் ஆங்கில பயிற்சிகளை தொடரவிரும்புவோர், தனது துறைச் சார்ந்த ஆங்கில கற்கை நெறியைத் தெரிவு செய்தல் கூடியப் பயனைத் தரும். அதுவும் ஆங்கில இலக்கணம் சார்ந்தே கற்க வேண்டும் என்பது கருத்தில் கொள்ளவும்.

TOEFL, IELTS போன்ற ஆங்கில மொழி பரீட்சையில் சிறந்தப் புள்ளிகளைப் பெறுவோர், உலகில் பிரசித்திப்பெற்ற பல்கலைக் கழகங்களில் தமது உயர் கல்வியைத் தொடரவும், எளிதாக வெளிநாடுகளில் உயர் தொழில் வாய்ப்பு பெற்றிடவும் முடியும்.

ஆங்கிலம் துணுக்குகள் 4 (Abbreviations / Acronyms)

"Abbreviation" என்பதன் தமிழ் அர்த்தம் "சுருக்கம்" என்பதாகும். இவை நீண்ட வாக்கியங்கள் அல்லது சொற்றொடர்கள் போன்றவற்றை எளிதாகப் பயன்படுத்துவதற்கு உதவுபவைகளாகும்.

உதாரணம்:

சுருக்கம்: BBC - முழு வாக்கியம்: British Broadcasting Corporation.

இருப்பினும் இவற்றை கற்க விரும்புவோர் தத்தமது துறைசார் சுருக்கங்களை முதலில் கற்பதே பொருத்தமானதாக இருக்கும். இங்கே பொதுவாக எல்லோரும் பயன்படுத்தக் கூடிய சில சுருக்கங்களை கீழே காணலாம்.

இச் சுருக்கங்களை ஆங்கிலத்தில் இரண்டு விதமாக வகைப்படுத்தியுள்ளனர். ஒன்று "Initial Abbreviation" மற்றது "Acronym".

முதலில் "Initial Abbreviations" சுருக்கங்களைப் பார்ப்போம். இவற்றை ஒரு நீண்ட வாக்கியத்தின் ஒவ்வொரு சொற்களினதும் முதல் எழுத்தை மட்டும் எடுத்து "கெப்பிட்டல்" எழுத்துக்களில் பயன்படுத்துபவைகள். கெப்பிட்டல் எழுத்தும் சிம்பல் எழுத்தும் கலந்து பயன்படுத்துபவைகள். சிம்பல் எழுத்துக்களில் மட்டுமே பயன்படுத்துபவைகள் என வகைப்படுத்தலாம்.

அநேகமாக இவற்றை பேசும் பொழுது ஒவ்வொரு எழுத்துக்களின் ஒலியையும் தனித்து தனித்து உச்சரிக்கவேண்டும்.

"Acronyms" என்றால் என்ன?

"Acronyms" என்றால் ஒரு சொற்றொடரின் முதல் எழுத்துக்களை எடுத்து அவற்றை இன்னுமொரு புதியச் சொல் போன்று பேசுப்படும் சுருக்கப்பெயர்களாகும். இவற்றில் நாம் மேலே பார்த்தைப் போன்று எழுத்துக்களை தனித்தனியாக உச்சரிப்பதில்லை; சொற்களின் முதல் எழுத்துக்களை கூட்டுச்சேர்த்து இன்னுமொரு புதியச் சொல்லாகவே ஒலிக்கப்படுபவைகள் ஆகும். (In this case the first letters from each word actually form another word)

அநேகமாக சொற்கள் என்றே நினைத்து பேசும் பலருக்கு, இவை பலக் கூட்டுச்சொற்களின் "சுருக்கம்" என்பது தெரியாமலும் இருக்கலாம்.
